An Independent, Impartial, Crash-Data Lab
The Event Data Recorder (EDR), attached to the airbag of the vehicle, mainly collects two types of data – non-deployment event and deployment event. In case of a non-deployment event, despite the airbag not being deployed, pre- and post-crash data is all recorded. On the other hand, a deployment event occurs when the airbags have been deployed, and pre-and post-crash data is recorded.
An EDR unit may record anywhere between 15 or more variables for around 20 seconds pre-crash and approximately 5-10 seconds post-impact. Therefore, proving your innocence in the event of a car crash is made easier through the following variables:
In the event of a car accident, retrieving black box data can be useful and is given proper weight as evidence since the information from the EDR often helps fill gaps in your narrative and strengthens it. And since this data is quantitative in nature rather than qualitative, it is harder to refute.
A couple of examples of how black box data could help strengthen your case include:
Hard figures and quantitative data retrieved from an EDR not only increase the credibility of victims but also supports the denial of negligence. And since this data includes variables such as speed, acceleration, brake activation, airbag deployment, and more, it's harder to rebut.
Our EDR data recovery services are reliable, accurate, fast, and convenient. We can usually pull out data within a standard 5-day time period from vehicles to help determine causation, liability, and severity of the impact.
Here at Billings Black Box, rest assured that your data is handled by certified and trained EDR technicians, that use the latest technology and resources required to get you quick and cost-effective solutions. Please note that our technicians only retrieve data and provide data reports alone.
In automobile accidents, people often succumb to a 'he said, she said situation where only hard figures and factual information can waive off traffic charges. In such a situation, information retrieved from an EDR can improve your client's case by verifying original claims. This data is reliable, usable, objective, and highly effective and helps fill any potential loopholes in your client's narrative.
